Bofill Mir Abogados appoints three new partners in the corporate law and mining and natural resources practices

Feliciano Tomarelli and Alina Bendersky, from the corporate and mining and natural resources practices, respectively, were promoted to partnership at Bofill Mir Abogados (BM). In addition, Francisco Ducci, who returns to Chile after working in New York, has joined the firm as a partner in the mining and natural resources practice.

With the promotion of Alina Bendersky and Feliciano Tomarelli, and the arrival of Francisco Ducci, BM now counts a total of 12 partners. While Bendersky and Ducci will support the work of Pablo Mir, lead partner of the Mining and Natural Resources practice, Tomarelli will reinforce the Corporate practice led by Octavio Bofill, Ana María Yuri and Rodrigo Saffirio. Partnership is effective on April 1, 2023.

All three lawyers have a common background of postgraduate studies abroad at prestigious universities and experience of direct contact with clients. In addition, Tomarelli and Ducci worked as international associates in law firms in New York, USA.

With these appointments BM will now have two female partners, Alina Bendersky and Ana María Yuri. While Bendersky is positioned as one of the few female partners in her area of expertise in the local legal market - among Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500 there are only four women recognized and only one at partner level -; Yuri was one of the first managing partners among Chilean firms and has focused her career on transactional, project and construction matters, areas with low female participation. Thus, the firm continues to advance in its commitment to promote spaces and opportunities to encourage greater participation and recognition of women in the legal profession.

Rodrigo Saffirio, managing partner, commented on the appointments that "they are three young lawyers who posses a solid combination of personal qualities, professional skills and outstanding experience, and who early in their careers demonstrated an remarkable abilities to communicate and engage with clients and to lead their teams".

Alina Bendersky, obtained her law degree from Universidad de Chile (2011) and LL.M. degree in Environmental and Energy Law and Policy from Georgetown University, Washington D.C (2018). She began her career in the team led by Pablo Mir. Among others, her appointment comes from her leadership abilities in complex transactions, technical management of the mining industry, international advice experience and a deep understanding of the culture and business dynamics of the natural resources industry.

Feliciano Tomarelli is a lawyer from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (2012) and LL.M from Columbia University, New York (2016). He is admitted as an attorney in the State of New York (2016) and was an international associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP (2016 - 2017). His promotion responds to the valuation of his great negotiation and execution skills in some of the most complex and sophisticated transactions advised by BM, as well as his academic background - he is an undergraduate and graduate professor at Universidad de los Andes since 2014, among others -.

Francisco Ducci is a lawyer from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2012) and LL.M from Columbia University, New York (2020). Before joining BM he worked as an international associate in the corporate and Latin American practice of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, New York. His appointment is based on his capacity and track record, both in Chile and abroad, and his experience in development and project finance and foreign investment matters, which, together with his recognized capacity in transactional matters, will enhance the practice in the mining and natural resources area.
